ABOUT

THE GRAND

The Gregorian Calendar takes into account leap year and the exeption of leap year and another exeption of the first exeption.

CASE

Mahogany build on a solid granite plate. The load bearing construction is solid stainless steel.

Measurements: 200 cm x 77 cm x 48 cm

THE MAIN WORK

Shows Central European Time and is sending information to all other Works in the timepiece. The time for Copenhagen is

Greenwich Time + one hour equal to 15° east.

Sidereal Time is used for astronomy and has 24 hours time on 23 hours, 56 minutes and 3.09053 seconds.

The accuracy is 0.3 seconds on 300 years between the Main Work and Sidereal Time.

THE GREGORIAN CALENDAR

The most common calendar in the world, was introduced in Denmark in 1700 by Ole Rømer.

The calendar runs once a day (at midnight). It changes day, date and if necessary month and year.

The calendar takes into account  leap year and the exeption of leap year and another exeption of the first exeption.

SUN AND MOON WORK

Centered is the earth rotating per 24 hours on 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.09053 seconds, like Sidereal Day. The moon moves anticlockwise once in 27 days, 7 hours, 43 minutes and 4,7661 seconds and at the same time it rotates around itself to show moon faces. The sun moves around in 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes and 45.4979 seconds.

When the sun, earth and the moon stay in line, it is full moon and the moon displays as white.

When the Sun, moon and the earth is in line it is new moon and the moon displays as black.

SUNRISE AND SUNSET WORK

The calculation for the sunrise and sunset is based upon a tropical year. The Work shows sunrise and sunset for Copenhagen and the level on the sky. It works with a very ueven speed, the calculation is placed in the Equation Work. In the beginning (app. December 21) the day increases with a 1/2 minute a week and with spring equilibrium it is 4 minutes a day. The angle of the sun is between 10,7° -57,6°.

TRIPLE DIAL WORK

The Work has three dials.

1. The Equation

- shows the time of equation from +14 minutes to - 16 minutes spread on a tropical year.

2. The true solar time

- shows the time a sundial will show, local time + equation.

3. Local time

- shows the local time at the position of the clock. Here it is 9 minutes and 47 seconds from normal time.

THE EQUATION WORK

The Work takes into account all iregular or uneven movements and overfører til de øvrige værker. It doesen't have any dials but mainly calculates the moons anomaly, the suns anomaly, equation anomaly, year and tropical year.
